Welcome to the Leamington Winter Pool League 2009/10
Here is the latest news from the committee.
WINTER LEAGUE 2009/2010 - END OF SEASON ROUND-UP
PREMIER LEAGUE - Wheatsheaf 'A' only needed a win at home to Railway Inn B to clinch the title but couldn't cope with the pressure as they crashed 6-4 and finished exactly level for the season with Railway, therefore Hodcarrier 'A' only needed a point at Holly Bush 'A' to grab the title and it looked bleak as they trailed 5-4 but Harj Dhesi emerged the hero as he won the last frame to clinch a draw for the Hod and hand them the Premier League title. Elephant & Castle were already relegated and will play in Division 1 next season.
DIVISION ONE - Leaders Hodcarrier 'B' met second placed Holly Bush 'B' at the Hod and only needed a draw to win the title whilst Holly needed the win, a very bright start from the Holly saw them take a 4-0 lead but a great fightback from the Hod levelled the match at 4-4, Nino Episcopo(Holly) took a tight frame against Kuldeep Nagra(Hod) to lead 5-4, all to play for in the final frame as Dom Pratt(Hod) took on Nathaniel Cleaver(Holly), a cool finish from Nathaniel gave Holly Bush 'B' the frame, the match 6-4 and the Division 1 title. New Inn are relegated despite winning at Hobsons Choice, they join Windmill 'B' in Division 2 next season.
DIVISION TWO - Plough & Harrow 'A' win the title at a canter by 11 points, second place The Sun lose at Whitnash Tavern 'C' and third place Windmill 'A' lose at home to Joiners Arms 'A', Builders Arms 'B' need a win away at Jolly Miller to clinch promotion (late result). Joiners 'A' despite winning their last match are relegated alongside St Patricks Club to Division 3.
DIVISION THREE - Frames Club 'A' take the title by a clear 7 points, Murphys clinch the second promotion place as they draw the last match at Oak Inn 'A' 5-5, Oak Inn 'B' only needed a point for promotion but will rue a missed opportunity as they lost at the Hope Tavern.
SINGLES KO - Rob Loveridge won his semi final match by default after a no show from Harj Dhesi, meanwhile Rob Butterworth beat Steve Short in the other semi-final 4-1, a 5-0 demolition job for Rob Butterworth over Rob Loveridge in the final means that he retains the singles title for the second successive year.
DOUBLES KO - Alex Hood & Jake Roberts claim the title after a hard fought 3-2 win against Kyle Byrne and Nick Walker.
